Pain & Injuries

How Can We Help?

Pain can affect nearly every part of daily life—from working and exercising to sleeping comfortably and doing the activities you enjoy. Whether pain develops from an injury, repetitive strain, arthritis, muscle tension, or an ongoing condition, finding effective ways to manage it can make a meaningful difference in your quality of life.

At Acupuncture Herbal Wellness Center, we use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine to help manage pain, improve mobility, and support the body’s natural recovery processes. Each treatment is personalized based on where your pain is located, what may be contributing to it, how long you’ve been experiencing it, and how it is affecting your daily activities.

How Acupuncture Can Help With Pain

Through the insertion of thin needles at specific points, acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves and activates pathways within the nervous system involved in pain regulation. This may encourage the release of the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals, including endorphins, which increases circulation, and decreases muscle tension.

For people recovering from injuries, acupuncture may also be used as complementary care to help manage pain and support the recovery process. Treatment can be tailored to the location and type of injury, as well as symptoms such as swelling, muscle tightness, stiffness, and limited movement.

Acupuncture may help:

  • Reduce pain and discomfort
  • Relax tight muscles and reduce muscle spasms
  • Support a healthy inflammatory response
  • Improve local circulation
  • Reduce stiffness and support range of motion
  • Support the body’s natural recovery process
  • Improve comfort with everyday movement and activity

Chronic Illness & Immunity

How Can We Help?

Living with a chronic health condition can affect many areas of your life, including energy, sleep, digestion, pain levels, stress, and your ability to do the things you enjoy. Because chronic conditions can involve multiple systems of the body, symptoms and their impact can vary greatly from person to person.

At Acupuncture Herbal Wellness Center, we use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as complementary care for people living with chronic health concerns. Treatment is individualized based on your symptoms, health history, and overall wellness goals, with a focus on helping manage symptoms, supporting quality of life, and promoting overall well-being.

Cancer Treatment Support

Acupuncture may be used as complementary care for patients undergoing cancer treatment. It is not a treatment for cancer itself, but it may help manage certain symptoms and side effects associated with cancer care and support overall comfort and quality of life.

Acupuncture may help with:

  • Nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy
  • Cancer-related fatigue
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Dry mouth
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Overall comfort and well-being during treatment

Treatment is individualized and used alongside—not in place of—care from your oncology team. Patients undergoing cancer treatment should discuss complementary therapies with their medical providers.

Conditions We Treat

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Bell’s palsy & facial spasms
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Chronic hepatitis
  • Chronic sinusitis
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Diabetes-related symptoms

  • Chronic inflammatory conditions

  • Post-viral symptoms

What Does the Research Say About Acupuncture & Cancer Care?

Research has examined acupuncture as a complementary therapy for people undergoing cancer treatment. The National Cancer Institute reports that some of the strongest evidence involves the use of acupuncture to help manage nausea and vomiting associated with cancer treatment. Acupuncture has also been studied for symptoms such as pain, fatigue, dry mouth, hot flashes, and sleep difficulties, although research results vary depending on the symptom.

More recent research continues to investigate acupuncture alongside standard cancer care. A 2023 systematic review of 38 randomized controlled trials involving more than 2,500 patients found that adding acupuncture to usual care may improve control of acute and delayed chemotherapy-related vomiting, although the researchers rated the overall certainty of the evidence as low or very low.

Acupuncture is used as complementary care and is not a treatment for cancer itself. Patients undergoing cancer treatment should continue to work closely with their oncology team and discuss complementary therapies with their medical providers.

Stress & Emotional Wellness

How can we help?

Stress and emotional health can affect much more than how you feel mentally. Ongoing stress, anxiety, and emotional strain can also contribute to muscle tension, headaches, digestive changes, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and a general feeling of being overwhelmed.

At Acupuncture Herbal Wellness Center, we use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as complementary care to help manage stress-related symptoms and support emotional well-being. Treatment is personalized based on your symptoms, health history, and individual needs, with a focus on helping the body relax, supporting better sleep, and promoting an overall sense of balance and well-being.

How Can Acupuncture Support Stress & Emotional Wellness

Acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves and influences the autonomic nervous system, which helps regulate the body’s stress and relaxation responses. By encouraging the body to shift away from a heightened “fight or flight” state and toward a calmer “rest and digest” state, acupuncture may help reduce some of the physical symptoms associated with ongoing stress.

Acupuncture may help:

  • Promote relaxation and nervous-system regulation
  • Help manage stress and anxiety-related symptoms
  • Reduce muscle tension and stress-related headaches
  • Support better sleep
  • Support energy and reduce stress-related fatigue
  • Support digestive function affected by stress
  • Promote an overall sense of calm and well-being

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, emotional and physical health are closely connected. Acupuncture is used to encourage the healthy flow of Qi (energy) and blood and address patterns of imbalance that may accompany stress, emotional strain, and changes in sleep or energy.

Conditions We Treat

  • Stress
  • Anxiety-related symptoms
  • Sleep difficulties & insomnia
  • Stress-related headaches
  • Muscle tension
  • Fatigue & low energy
  • Emotional stress
  • Irritability & mood changes
  • Stress-related digestive symptoms
  • Difficulty relaxing

Alpha-Gal Syndrome

How can we help?

Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) is a unique type of food allergy that can develop after certain tick bites. It can cause the body to react to red meat, such as beef, pork, and lamb, as well as other products that contain ingredients from these animals. Unlike many food allergies that cause symptoms soon after eating, Alpha-Gal reactions can sometimes occur several hours later, which can make it difficult to recognize what is causing the problem. Symptoms can vary widely and may include digestive problems, hives or itching, swelling, and other allergic reactions.

At Acupuncture Herbal Wellness Center, we offer acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as complementary care for people living with Alpha-Gal Syndrome. Treatment is personalized and focuses on supporting overall wellness and helping with symptoms that may be affecting your day-to-day life.

How Acupuncture Can Help Support

  • Improved Circulation – Acupuncture stimulates specific points that can influence local blood flow, helping increase circulation to tissues and supporting the delivery of oxygen and nutrients.
  • Healthy Inflammatory Response – Acupuncture interacts with the nervous system and may influence signaling involved in the body’s inflammatory response, helping the body regulate inflammation.
  • Digestive Function – Acupuncture can influence the nervous system pathways involved in digestion and may help support normal digestive movement and function, which can be helpful for bloating, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
  • Nervous System Regulation – Acupuncture may encourage the body to shift toward a more relaxed “rest and digest” state, which can support digestion, relaxation, and sleep.
  • Healthy Flow of Qi & Blood – In Traditional Chinese Medicine, symptoms can develop when the normal flow of Qi (energy) and blood becomes disrupted. Acupuncture uses specific points to encourage smoother flow and restore balance throughout the body.
  • The Body’s Natural Healing Processes – By supporting circulation, nervous-system regulation, and overall balance, acupuncture is used to create an environment that supports the body’s own healing and regulatory processes.

Internal Medicine

How can we help?

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine take a whole-body approach to health. Rather than focusing only on individual symptoms, treatment considers how different systems of the body work together and where imbalances may be contributing to ongoing health concerns.

At Acupuncture Herbal Wellness Center, we create individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s symptoms, health history, and overall wellness goals. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine may be used alongside conventional medical care to help manage symptoms, support healthy body function, and improve overall quality of life.

Allergies

How can we help?

Allergies can affect much more than your nose. Sneezing, congestion, sinus pressure, itchy or watery eyes, headaches, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping can all interfere with how you feel throughout the day.

At Acupuncture Herbal Wellness Center, we use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as complementary care to help manage allergy symptoms and support overall wellness. Treatment is personalized based on your symptoms, triggers, and overall health, whether your allergies are seasonal or bother you throughout the year.

  • Sinus pressure
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Allergy-related headaches
  • Sinus discomfort
  • Fatigue
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Persistent cough

How Acupuncture Can Help Support

  • Sinus & Nasal Comfort – Acupuncture stimulates specific points that interact with nerves in the face and nasal area. This may influence blood flow and nerve signaling, helping with congestion, sinus pressure, and nasal discomfort.
  • Healthy Inflammatory Response – Acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves that send signals to the brain and nervous system. Research suggests these pathways can influence chemicals involved in inflammation and help regulate the body’s inflammatory response.
  • Immune-System Regulation – The nervous and immune systems communicate with one another. By stimulating nerve pathways, acupuncture may influence this communication and help regulate aspects of the immune response.
  • Headache & Sinus Pressure Relief – Acupuncture can stimulate nerves and affect local circulation while also helping relax tight muscles. This may reduce pain and pressure associated with sinus and allergy-related headaches.
  • Healthy Flow of Qi – From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, acupuncture stimulates specific points along the body’s meridians to encourage the smooth movement of Qi (energy) and blood and restore balance.
  • Relaxation & Sleep – Acupuncture can influence the autonomic nervous system, helping shift the body toward its “rest and digest” state. This may promote relaxation and make it easier to rest when allergy symptoms are bothersome.
